State Firefighters Association presents recovering CFD Fire Marshal with benefit check

By September 5, 2018No Comments

In a tremendous showing of support the South Carolina State Firefighters Association Foundation presented a gift to help one of our department leaders.

On September 5, 2018 leaders of the foundation handed Fire Marshal George Adams with a check for $1,500. This comes just months after he underwent major surgery to receive a new kidney. His wife Monica Adams also donated her kidney to someone else in order to make her husband’s procedure happen.

Currently Chief Adams is still undergoing follow up treatments at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. The long-time member of CFD said that his new kidney will have to be monitored indefinitely.

He added that having support from organizations like the SCSFA and the community has meant a great deal to him and his wife.

“I’m very appreciative of their donation. This check will go a long ways,” he said, “I can’t thank them enough.”

Chief Adams was nominated for the benefit check by CFD leadership. Just recently the fire marshal officially returned to work with the department.
