Fallen Irmo Firefighter Laid to Rest

By May 30, 2023June 22nd, 2023No Comments

Members of the fire service from across South Carolina and beyond came together on Wednesday May 31, 2023 to honor the life of Irmo Firefighter James Michael Muller.

Hundreds of firefighters lined the entrance to Riverland Hills Baptist Church as Muller’s flag-draped casket was brought in. It was followed by members of his family and his colleagues at the Irmo Fire District.

Funeral attendees then filed into the church to pay tribute as Firefighter Muller was given full honors for his dedication and the ultimate sacrifice he made in the line of duty. Muller, who was a member of the Irmo Fire District for seven years, died from the injuries he suffered while fighting an apartment fire in Columbia on May 26, 2023.

A last call for Muller would bring the service to its close as mourners listened in silent prayer.

A livestream from the church was made available to those who were not able to attend the service in person. You can view a recording of the memorial by clicking here.
