On Monday December 13, 2021 the Columbia-Richland Fire Department was honored to recognize three of our crews for receiving the Green Cross award through HURST Jaws of Life.

The Green Cross is the symbol of recognition for those who have used HURST Jaws of Life products to save lives. Over the years HURST has recognized tens of thousands of men and women around the globe with this prestigious honor.

In the summer of 2021 crews on Rescue 1, Ladder 8 and Engine 3 were all involved in a vehicle extrication rescue that happened on I-77. Two patients on scene were entrapped with severe injuries following a crash.

Thanks to the quick work of these firefighters, both patients were freed from the wreck and transported by EMS in a matter of minutes.
Our department is proud to recognize the following members who received the Green Cross honor.
