15 New Firefighters Ready For Duty Following Graduation

Columbia-Richland Fire Chief Aubrey D. Jenkins administered the oath of office to 15 new career firefighters with the department as commencement exercises for CRFD Recruit Class 2023-02 were held on the evening of Thursday, December 7 at C.A. Johnson High school.

Each member of class 23-02 received their badge from Chief Jenkins after completing weeks of training at the department’s fire academy.

“Our department is grateful to have these 15 new members coming onboard,” Chief Jenkins said. ”I look forward to seeing them progress in their fire service careers over the coming weeks and months. I know they are going to do great things for our department, our community and the citizens we serve.”

Several awards were handed out during the ceremony to recruits who performed exceptionally well during their training. Firefighter Brandon Holliman was honored with the Maltese Cross Award while Firefighter Tayler Cole received the Bryan P. Roberts Academic Achievement Award.
