
Columbia-Richland Fire Chief Aubrey D. Jenkins administered the oath of office to 13 new full-time firefighters with the department as commencement exercises for CRFD Recruit Class 2023-01 were held on the evening of Thursday, May 25 at W. J. Keenan High School.


Each member of class 23-01 received their badge from Chief Jenkins after completing weeks of training at the department’s fire academy.
“I applaud these 13 firefighters on the dedication they have shown to their training and coursework over these past 18 weeks,” said Columbia-Richland Fire Chief Aubrey D. Jenkins, “They have truly proven that they are ready to serve our citizens and protect our communities. I look forward to following their careers with CRFD in the months and years ahead.”
Several awards were handed out during the ceremony to recruits who performed exceptionally well during their training. Recruit Mark Francescon was honored with the Maltese Cross Award while Recruit Brenden Preussner received the Bryan P. Roberts Academic Achievement Award.
