Assistant Chief Operations, Randy Wells
Assistant Fire Chief Randy Wells lead the Operations Division management team. Chief Wells is a 23 year veteran of the Fire service. He started his career as a Firefighter Paramedic with Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue. He is a 2010 Graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program, he is one of 42 Fire Service Officers to hold accreditation’s as both a Chief Fire Officer and Chief EMS Officer. He holds a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Columbia College in Emergency Management. Chief Wells has been married for 25 years and has two children. He enjoys spending time with his family participating in fishing, hunting, and gardening.
Chief Wells leads a management team consisting of three Division Chiefs, fifteen Battalion Chiefs managing the daily operations of the 453 sworn firefighters and 120 volunteers. CFD provides citizen centered services involving Fire Suppression, Rescue Operations, Hazardous Materials Mitigation and Rapid Responder Medical Services at the EMR and EMT levels. CFD’s Operations are data driven and evidence based. CFD uses the best practices model to ensure the citizens are receiving the highest quality, fiscally responsible emergency service possible.
